As a half-malaysian american, i’ve tried countless malaysian restaurants around the country (nyc, georgia, california) and this place is my favorite. Everything was just super delicious, including dishes that i usually don’t love too much: char kway teow and wonton mee (dry version), not even pictured cuz we ate it up loll. I will say the Hainanese chicken rice was not the best, but everything else was amazing. Well deserved five stars, especially for the service, the auntie who worked there is super friendly and kept chatting with us.

I have been eating at Penang since I was 8 years old and I’m 22 now! I grew up eating at many different Malaysian restaurants and Penang is my favorite by far. I drive an hour each way to get the food and it’s always worth it. Annie and Kate are always so welcoming and kind and make us feel very at home. I have brought so many friends from all over the country, and every time they are astounded by the incredible flavors in the food. I always reccomend the Roti Canai, Mango Tofu, Thai Iced Tea, and Coconut Rice. If you’re considering trying Penang, this is your sign to do it :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Penang, and it was a genuinely one-of-a-kind culinary revelation. As a Southeast Asian myself, I have high standards for the region's flavor profiles, but having never experienced a dedicated Malaysian restaurant before, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Penang blew my expectations completely out of the water. From the moment the dishes arrived, it was clear that equal care is given to both taste and presentation. Not only was the food visually stunning, but the kitchen execution was incredibly impressive—dishes came out remarkably fast without sacrificing quality. The staff was also exceptionally accommodating, ensuring a seamless and welcoming dining experience from start to finish. The absolute standout of the night was the Beef Rendang. For me, it was the ultimate comfort food—profoundly rich, deeply aromatic, and executed with an authenticity that truly hit close to home. The Nasi Lemak was another massive win, delivering a perfect balance of traditional flavors that far exceeded my expectations. I was really excited to try Penang Malaysian Cuisine, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was packed with flavor, and I genuinely loved every dish I tried. The beef rendang was the standout, easily one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. It was incredibly tender, rich, and full of deep, complex flavors. It’s definitely something I could see myself craving every week. The service was also great. Our waitress was friendly and provided excellent recommendations, which made the experience even better. The ambiance was just as enjoyable. I loved the décor, and it really added to the overall dining experience. Overall, if you’re looking for incredibly flavorful and satisfying food, Penang Malaysian Cuisine is absolutely worth a visit.

i am glad i was introduced to try the food here. when I moved to Chicago, i found out this malaysian restaurant. however as it is located at the suburb which is abit far from town, it kind of discourages me to check it out. Due to the CNY event organized by MCC, i had the chance to try out the food. the yummy food and the price blown my mind. i am definitely coming back despite the distance because of the great malaysian they serve here, so good that i think they deserve Michelin rating.
